- You know, you wait a year and then 2 updates come at once!
- I've spent a few hours today sorting through some submissions of new data as follows:
- ARC Carwash (DIY-Car)
- Buildbase (DIY-Car)
- Church (Community) <- this is a work in progress - please submit your local churches so other users can find wedding locations etc easier!
- Evans Cycles (Shopping)
- Jewson (DIY-Car)
- London Bridges (Attractions)
- Marstons Inns and Taverns (Food and Drink)
- Wilco Motosave (DIY-Car)
- I've also made various changes to existing POI files.
- Once again, thanks to all who contribute "The Two D's" (Data and Donations).

- Misc Food and Drink (Food and Drink) - temporary file until there are enough for their own file!

- School Crossing (Community) - note that these are set with a proximity warning

- The Submission Map now shows the local POIs on the map. This should make it easier when correcting existing POIs or adding new ones.

- Locacity UK has now been updated in the AppStore.
- I've removed the 'Enhanced POIs' page from the main menu (still available if you want it!) and replaced it with 'Mobile Phones' - this is a new page giving information on the mobile phone options for using GarminPOI.co.uk - there are plenty of times that I don;t have my Garmin with me when I would need to use the data. So here it is!

- Locacity UK, the iPhone App using our data, will soon be updated. The biggest change is that it now uses data live from the GarminPOI.co.uk server so any updates are immediately available in the app rather than waiting for Apple to approve a new app update. It also uses the built in Maps, allows for a direct link to navigate to the POI using Maps, is a lot less memory intensive and therefore a lot more stable. Keep an eye on the AppStore for the update!

- The submission page has been updated to automatically show the current available sets of files - this should help when making new submissions. The files are ordered by category.
- My new project is getting closer to completion so expect an email in teh next couple of days asking for people to give it a trial test and comments for improvement!

- Database has been updated! Please note the removal of the Geocaching file as requested by Geocaching.com - if you need it then please visit their site!
- New files this month are: Gloria Jeans Coffees (Food & Drink), SMART Car Garage (DIY & Car), Wacky Warehouse (Food and Drink) and Build Center (DIY & Car)
- I've been busy working on some enhancements to the data-storage and access which will, in the next month or so, massively improve the LocacityUK iPhone app as well as another project I'm working on in my spare time - if you have a phone with mobile internet then it will involve you - more details later!

- Locacity UK has now been released to the App Store for iPhone users! This FREE app, made by WeeWare, uses data from GarminPOI.co.uk and has already had great reviews regarding how good the data is - so thanks to you guys! And don't worry, users of the app won't be sponging off your hard work as they can also submit new POIs via the app too! Grab it here: Locacity UK

- Yes, yes, yes, I know... I suck at updating the site! It's on my list of things to do (which is rather long at the moment!)
- Very soon as well there should be an iPhone app available using the data from GarminPOI.co.uk - more info soon!

- HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
- Finally had the time to get the database uploaded!
- A BIG 'Thank You' for all your kind words regarding the tragic death of my brother-in-law just before Christmas - things seem to be settling down now.
- Once again Thanks to all who have submitted new files, made corrections to existing files or made a PayPal donation. It's all appreciated.
- I recently got hold of a Columbus V-900 GPS Data logger - it has a built-in voice recorder so it's fantastic for saving POIs along with an audible description without having to type anything! Hence the number of new additions / amendments I made myself this release - it's small enough to carry with me all the time whereas I don't always have my Garmin with me!
- Oh, and apologies for the 2 emails the other day - I've moved servers and was having a few problems with the mailing list set-up... All appears to be fine now though!

- Apologies for the recent downtime on the site if it has affected you at all? This was due to shifting the site over to new servers at Salt & Light Solutions. Normal service has now resumed!

- DATABASE UPDATED! Finally found the time to get everything updated and uploaded!
- Various files and folders have been renamed (see _Release.txt for info) so it may be worthwhile deleting the last download before unzipping the new files to avoid any duplicates.
- I am also pleased to announce a new RoadTour trial - A Child-Friendly set of spoken POI Alerts! Download it via the Enhanced POIs page.
- Once again, thanks for all your submissions, donations and emails!

- DATABASE UPDATED! After a load of new submissions and corrections the database has now been updated. Thanks as usual to all who submitted especially to get the Curry House and Chinese Takeaway files started. Obviously there's a long way to go but we've made a start!
- Thanks also to the handful of dontations received these last 10 days or so - every little does help particularly with regards to costs of hosting and domain names etc GarminPOI.co.uk will always be free (hence all the adverts!) so any donations are greatly appreciated, no matter how small!
- And, finally, the DIY sub folder has now been renamed DIY-Car as various car related files have been added such as Kwik Fit etc so I thought it would be better to rename the sub group. Please see the download page for a full list of what is included.

- turboccc's 'Text to Speech' voice editor has been updated to v2.60 with suport added for StreetPilot C310/C510 - go to the Tools section to download it.

- The email request for Chinese Takeaways and Curry Houses has got off to a flying start - after 24 hours there were already 38 entries in the Chinese Takeaway file and I've not even added my local ones yet! Keep them coming in!
- I've changed the code on the submission page too so that once you ener your name and email address it will stay there in the box for your next submission - this should save a bit of time when submitting multiple entries.
- Also, you may have noticed a few curves and shadows here and there...! Well, if you use Firefox or Safari you will anyway!

- I told you there would be teething problems...! The issue where each of the main download links were asssociated witht he RoadTour POI's has now been fixed. This wasn't a forced advertising experiment, I just missed an '=' in some of the code!!

- Well, I have finally given the site a complete facelift - in fact, a complete rebuild from scratch! Please let me know what you think to it :)
- The database has been updated (along with a few new files - see '_Update List.txt' for details), thanks again to all who have sent in submissions! Hopefully this process should now be easier with the aid of the Google Map submission page!
- I'm now officially tired so please do email me to tell me about any obvious mistakes I've made!!

Hi Everyone,
It's now been 3 months since I was last able to update the site and about 2.5 months since my PC completely packed in.
After my last email I had a few replies saying I should ask users to donate a small amount as lots of small amounts adds up to something larger. At the time I decided not to go down that route as I thought I would be back up and running within a couple of weeks - however, things like bills, insurance excesses and other surprises that life likes to throw at us have somewhat hindered our bank account... So, here is what I was thinking, there are 1,180 people on the mailing list and I can probably safely assume that 1,000 are actually active email addresses. If just over a third (381) of you were so kind as to donate only 75p via PayPal then after fees (22.55p [3.4% + 20p]) it would total £199.83 - which is pretty much what I need to get the PC back up and running (motherboard has died but the PC was fairly old so also needs new processor/cooler, new memory, new case... about the only thing I can transfer is the hard-drive, dvd-writer and monitor!). If there was any excess I would give this to a charity - more than likely Cancer Research UK (of course proof of this would be posted on the site etc).
Forgive me if you see this as begging or scrounging but to be honest this is the only way that I will be able to get the database updated anytime soon as I just cannot warrant the cost of the repair/rebuild - the google adverts don't generate that much (other than just about covering some domain / hosting costs) and the $ to £ conversion doesn't help either!

- The new PGPSW Speed Camera Database works with the new POI Loader (v2.2.1) from Garmin as do the POI's you can download from this site.

- Happy New Year and apologies for the lack of updates...I've been busy ;)
- New this time is the option to download only the files that have been edited / added! This should save on my bandwidth a lot so I'm just being selfish...
- Also new is the FAQ section - well, actually it links to the awesome Pocket GPS World forum but I wrote the FAQ's anyway!
- Also, there's been a lot of confirmations of other Garmin units these POI's work on - which is nice :)
- ...all the above newness can be seen in the Download section of the site (except the FAQ's but you probablyalready saw that on the menu!)
- And, finally, please removethe 'Attractions.csv' file from yourmachines as it has too many errors in it!

- Changed the mailing list - to be frank: it was crap! See new link in the top menu.
- Pocket GPS World have just released a Garmin i3 compatible set of the Speed Camera Database. Apparently there are some issues with the bmp's (icons) but in the next few days the speed camera's will be removed from the download and a link to the official database will be added.
